Second-ranked Indianapolis Cathedral jumped out to a 28-0 halftime lead Friday night at Arlington Middle School and never looked back in defeating fifth-rated Decatur Central, 42-12, to win the Class 5A Sectional 13 championship.  It is the 23rd football sectional title in school history.  The Irish will travel to top-rated and defending state champion New Palestine in regional play next Friday. Cathedral Draws First Round Bye in 5-A Football Tournament

Indianapolis Cathedral never trailed Friday night on its way to a 28-7 high school football victory over Louisville Trinity.  The Irish had never defeated the Shamrocks in four previous meetings.  Trinity entered the game ranked second in Kentucky’s Class 6-A and sixth in USA Today’s 14-state Midwest region poll. Cathedral’s David Perry returned the opening kickoff 76 yards for a touchdown Friday night to set the tone in a 56-0 homecoming football win over Jeffersonville High School.  The Fighting Irish scored on every possession in the first half and did not punt in the game as they improved their record to 4-2 this season.  The Red Devils dropped to 1-5 overall. Two Cathedral football players are up for week 5 of the Indy-area high school football performer of the week.  Information retrived from Indy Star:  Orin Edwards, Cathedral — One of the top dual threat quarterbacks in the state, Edwards put his skills on display in Cathedral's third trip to Cincinnati in five weeks. St. Xavier scored 24 unanswered points in the second half Friday night to overcome a two-touchdown deficit and defeat Indianapolis Cathedral 41-37 in high school football.  It was the third game for the Fighting Irish in Cincinnati in the last four weeks.  Previously, Cathedral had beaten Archbishop Moeller, while losing in overtime at Elder. Cathedral Falls to Elder in Overtime

Indianapolis Cathedral suffered its first loss of the 2019 season Friday night, falling to Cincinnati Elder 38-31 in overtime.  The game started 50 minutes later than the originally scheduled 7 pm kickoff due to an accident on I-74 that delayed the Irish team buses traveling to Cincinnati by nearly three hours.  The loss drops Cathedral’s record to 2-1, while Elder remains unbeaten with a 2-0 mark.
