Indianapolis Cathedral improved its record to 8-0 in high school football Friday night with a 45-21 victory at Brebeuf Jesuit.  The Class 5-A top-ranked Fighting Irish will host Class 6-A number-one Center Grove next Friday at Arlington.  The nationally-ranked Trojans enter the game with a 22-game winning streak that includes a 17-13 home win against the Fighting Irish last season.  The two reigning state champions are a combined 43-1 since the beginning of the 2020 season. Cathedral Hosts First Round Football Sectional Game in 5-A Tournament

The Indiana High School Athletic Association has drawn the pairings for its 49th Annual Football State Tournament.  Cathedral will host Terre Haute North in the first round of post-season play in Class 5-A Sectional 13 on October 22.  Cathedral has a 4-2 all-time record against the Patriots including a 42-20 victory in their last meeting, which came in the 2013 5-A semi-state at Arsenal Tech.  It is the only previous tournament game between the two schools.          Class 5-A S...

Indianapolis Cathedral defeated Cincinnati La Salle on the road Friday night, 35-7, in a high school football clash of highly ranked teams.  The Fighting Irish are ranked first in Indiana’s Class 5-A, while the Lancers were rated fifth in Division II, which is the second largest class in Ohio. Football Honors Anniversary Teams

At halftime of the Cathedral football game, the Irish honored the state champion and runner-ups anniversary teams. The 1976 and 1991 football teams were honored for their second place finish.

The state champion teams from 1986, 1996, 2006, and 2011 received recognition for their excellence.

Indianapolis Cathedral overwhelmed Hammond Morton in a homecoming high school football game Friday night at Arlington.  The Class 5-A top-rated Fighting Irish scored 37 points in the first 15 minutes on their way to a 51-0 victory in the first-ever meeting between the two schools.  By mutual agreement of the coaches, a running clock began with nine minutes remaining in the first half. Indianapolis Cathedral, the top-rated team in Class 5A, jumped out to a 28-0 first-half lead and cruised to a 38-14 high school football victory over rival Bishop Chatard Friday night at Arlington.  The 4-0 Fighting Irish have now won 15 of the last 17 meetings between the two schools and lead the all-time series 28-19. Class 5A top-ranked Indianapolis Cathedral defeated Class 6A third-rated Brownsburg, 20-7, in high school football Friday night to remain unbeaten.  The Fighting Irish defense held the Bulldogs to 184 yards of total offense and returned a blocked punt for a score to lead the way. Joint release from Cathedral and Roncalli High Schools Roncalli and Cathedral High Schools announced today that the two schools will resume their football rivalry in the fall of 2023.
