The Indiana Football Coaches Association has named Cathedral senior tight end Haven Montefalco to its 2018 Top 50 All-State Team. Montefalco caught 44 passes for 736 yards and four touchdowns this season. He is one of two tight ends to earn Top 50 honors along with Fort Wayne Snider senior Simon Dellinger.
The IFCA selected Irish wide receiver Bo Sanders and linebacker Richie Hegarty to its 2018 Class 5-A senior all-state team. Sanders caught 84 passes for 1,072 yards and 16 touchdowns. Sanders earned IFCA Class 5-A junior first team all-state honors in 2017 as a defensive back. Hegarty recorded 44 tackles this season including seven tackles for loss and two sacks. He also intercepted two passes, returning one of them for a touchdown.
The coaches named Cathedral quarterback Orin Edwards, defensive back Shiloh Means, and offensive lineman Tex Elliott to their Class 5-A junior all-state team. Edwards completed 184 of 311 passing attempts for 2,516 yards and 23 touchdowns. Means led the Irish defense with 80 tackles this season. Elliott was the only non-senior lineman to start for an offense that scored an average of 28 points per game, while gaining an average of 369 yards per outing.
