The future is bright for Cathedral High School girls golf.
Glimpses of that future were seen in 2021, and Ryan Brammer – in his first season as the Irish’s girls golf coach – said the vision will only get brighter.
The Irish fielded their largest program in recent memory in 2021, with 25 girls on various levels of teams – and with the Irish varsity winning the City Title with a young, improving lineup that Brammer said should set a positive tone moving forward.
The Irish for the season went 45-33 in 18-hole tournament pla...

This season was by any measure a success.
As Eric Bruns saw it, that became the case when Cathedral High School’s girls golf team completed the season – and its matches. The results that came in those matches?
That made the success even greater.
The Irish, who began the season as the least-experienced team in Bruns’ three seasons as head coach, improved as the season continued. They finished second at the City Tournament, then turned in a dominant victory for yet another sectional title.
“It was a good performance over...

Cathedral High School girls golf moved forward in 2019.
“Surprisingly so,” Eric Bruns said.
Bruns, in his second season as the Irish’s girls golf coach, said it was the best possible surprise – with a young, inexperienced team performing beyond preseason expectations to set a strong tone that should carry the program into the future.
“The girls were all pleased with how everything turned out,” Bruns said.
Natalie Schorr was the Irish’s lone returning senior, but Cathedral improved throughout the seaso...

This season was absolutely a success.
Considering where the 2018 Cathedral High School girls golf team started, and considering the collective level experience, Eric Bruns couldn’t see it any other way.
“Overall, it was a very positive season,” Bruns said.
The Irish, one year after graduating a slew of experienced golfers who formed the core of a long run of success, not only won five consecutive dual matches during the 2018 season they also won an eighth consecutive sectional title.
The Irish won the Section 15 Tournament a...

hey couldn’t be too disappointed.
No, the members of Cathedral High School’s girls golf team – particularly a tight-knit senior class – didn’t quite meet their season-ending goal during the 2017 season.
But Irish girls golf coach Mike Miller said that didn’t detract from a season that included a lot of winning – and ended with a lot of solid play throughout another successful postseason.
“It really was a good year,” Miller said after his second season as the Irish’s coach. “We wer...
