The Irish softball team defeated Mt Vernon 6-3 to advance to semi state. The Irish were tied at three after three innings but jumped to a 6-3 lead by the end of the fifth. Solid defense and pitching by the Irish limited the Mt Vernon offense.

This is the second consecutive regional crown for Coach Matthews and the softball team.

Cathedral will play Center Grove at 11am at Bedford North Lawrence on June 1 in the first round of semi state.
