The Lady Irish extended their winning streak to 6 games with a hard-fought victory at Brebeuf on Wednesday, September 25. The first two sets saw the Lady Irish come out on top by set scores of 27-25 and 25-22 over the Lady Braves. Cathedral built a big lead in the third set, but Brebeuf refused to go down without a fight and rebounded to take the third set 26-28. The Lady Irish asserted themselves early in the fourth set and pulled away to win the set 25-19, and in the process they defeated the Lady Braves by a 3-1 match score (27-25, 25-22, 26-28, 25-19).
The Lady Irish onslaught on offense started outside with Mia Dittoe contributing 17 kills on 32 attacks with only 4 errors and Sarah Casper delivering 21 kills on 52 attacks with only 4 errors for a combined .452/.357 kill/hitting percentage. The barrage continued inside with the dual threat of Anna Trieloff and JoJo Suppiger combining for an additional 17 kills on 46 attacks with 8 errors and a .370/.196 kill/hitting percentage. The defense was anchored by the dynamic duo of Lucia Corsaro and Jami Hansen who combined to thwart the Brebeuf attack with a total of 35 digs, recording 23 and 12 respectively, with Lucia Corsaro also delivering 3 service aces along the way.
With the win, the Lady Irish evened their overall season record at 8-8.
