The Irish scored a program-wide sweep of the Warriors on Wednesday, August 26, when Cathedral traveled to Warren Central to square off against their Freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity volleyball teams.
The Varsity won in three sets (25-9, 25-13, 25-17) to even their season record at 2-2. The Irish attack was led by junior Erica Barnhisel who connected on 10 kills against the Warrior defenders. Junior Kelsey Bailey and sophomore Mallory Dills handed out 14 assists each, accounting for 28 of the team total 33. Junior Caroline Kubacki stepped up with 10 digs to lead the Irish defense with Kelsey Bailey standing tall against the Warriors to record her first solo block of the season. The Irish scored 18 aces over the course the match with junior Katie Bremer alone accounting for 4 in the first set, her only stint in the Irish serving rotation during the match.
The JV cruised to an easy match win (25-1, 25-15) over the Warriors and in the process improved their season record to 3-1. The Freshman also secured victory (25-2, 25-8) and pushed their record to 2-1 on the season.
Cathedral travels to Avon on Thursday, August 27, as the Irish square off against the Orioles on their Senior Night. All three teams will be in action with Freshman and JV beginning at 6PM, and Varsity immediately after at 7PM.
