The Indiana Boys Volleyball Coaches Association awarded coach Rhonda Low the Lifetime Service Award for her comittment to Cathedral boys volleyball and growing the sport in Indiana. Low was honored before the championship match of the state tournament on May 18.
From the IBVCA:
A recent player said of her, “she was and always will be a mom to us. She made sure we did our work to the best of our ability on and off the court.”
This year, we bestow upon Coach Low, the first ever IBVCA Lifetime Service Award recognizing over 25 years of service to Indiana boys volleyball. In her time, she has racked up nine (9) state titles and over 20 state tournament berths. While her championships tell a story in and of themselves, it is her impact on players that makes her special. Coach Low’s impressive resume has produced 7 collegiate athletes, 1 AVCA All-American player, 31 college club players, 1 national champion, 3 professional volleyball players in indoor and beach, and 1 gold medalist for Team USA in snow volleyball hosted in Moscow, Russia in 2018. Finally, Coach Low has influenced 2 former players to become collegiate head volleyball coaches. Another past player shared, “Coach Low is a phenomenal coach who has a history of developing not only great players but great men.”
In addition to Coach Low demonstrating her coaching excellence at Cathedral High School over the past 25 years, she has been a leader in establishing boys volleyball programs throughout the state of Indiana. She served as President of the IBVCA for 12 years and served on the board for multiple years. During her presidency, our host site for this year’s State Championship Series, Franklin Community High School, became one of the many teams encouraged and supported by Rhonda Low to begin their own journey in boys volleyball. She is a respected influencer in Indiana, fighting on behalf of boys volleyball, and is nationally recognized as the voice of boys volleyball in the midwest. She’s been a state and national keynote speaker at conferences, clinics and colleges and the IBVCA is proud to claim her as our own.
This is the legacy of Coach Rhonda Low.
