Girls Soccer Handles Westfield 4-2
The girls soccer team opened their home schedule against the Westfield Shamrocks this past Monday.

The JV team dominated the match on their way to a 2-0 lead. with goals by sophomore Bella Dausman and freshman Ellle Lewis.  The Shamrocks would not quit and scored twice in the closing minutes to deny the Irish the victory.

The varsity team also dominated play throughout the night but fell behind early wen they gave up a goal from 25 yards away that was against the run of play.  The Irish did not lose heart and leveled the match before halftime when Senior wingback Olivia Carrico won the ball about 25 yards from goal and bent a left footed shot inside the near post.  The second half was all Irish as they built a 4-1 lead on goals by senior centerback Zoie Obst, sophomore striker Caroline Cline and senior winger Grace Brenton.  The Shamrocks notched a late goal but could do no more as Cathedral walked away with a convincing 4-2 victory.
