Head Coach Ed Freije
Ed is a 1999 graduate of Cathedral High School. While at Cathedral, Ed received 8 varsity letters in football, basketball, and baseball. He was fortunate to win two state championships. One in football as a member of the undefeated 1996 team and one as a member of the 1997-1998 basketball team. In 1996-1997, the finale year of single class basketball, he was a member of the Hinkle Regional Championship. He earned 4 of his varsity letters as a member of the Cathedral Baseball program. As a player in the baseball program, he was a member of the 1998 and 1999 Regional Championship teams. During his summers, he played baseball in the Indiana Bulls organization. After high school, Ed went on to continue his education the University of Dayton where he was a member of their baseball program.
After graduation, from the University of Dayton in 2003, Ed came back to Cathedral to teach in the theology department and be an assistant coach in baseball and girls’ basketball. As a varsity assistant coach in the baseball program for 9 years, he was on staff for 8 City Championships, 7 Sectional Championships, 6 Regional Championships, 4 Semi-State Championships, and 1 State Championship. In 2012, Ed took the opportunity to become the head coach of the Lady Irish Basketball program. In his four years coaching the ladies, his teams have gone 9-13, 11-10, 17-9, and 16-9.
Ed and his wife, Jody ’98, live on the Northeast side of Indianapolis and have three children, Morgan (5th grade), Ryan (3rd grade), and Taylor Grace (1st grade) that attend St. Pius X School. The Freije family is excited about the opportunity ahead and Ed looks forward to continuing the proud tradition of Cathedral High School Baseball.
Brad Pearson
Coach Pearson is entering his 1st season with the Fighting Irish. Coach Pearson has 10 years of coaching experience. He previously coached at Carmel High School where he served as a Varsity Assistant/JV Head Coach for the past 4 years with a record of 66-12 at the JV level. He also spent one year at Carmel as the JV Assistant Coach. Before joining the Greyhounds, he spent one year at Noblesville High School as JV Assistant/Pitching Coach for the Millers.
He coaches for the Aces Baseball Club in the summer and works as a private instructor at PowerAlley Baseball Academy. Coach Pearson works at Carmel High School as a Support Studies Teacher and also coaches 8th Grade Boy’s Basketball at Carmel Middle School. He is a graduate of Purdue University where he studied Physical Education and is also a graduate of Carmel High School, Class of 2006.
Jeremy Sinsabaugh
Coach Sinsabaugh was a multi-sport athlete at Bloomington North high School, lettering 3 years in baseball, football, and basketball. He earned All State awards in baseball, basketball, and football in 1997 and was named a North/South Baseball All-Star. He was a member of the last open class basketball state championship team and was named tournament MVP.
Jeremy played baseball at Butler University where he was a 4-year letterman. He was named to the All-Newcomer Team his Freshmen year, was All Conference all 4 years, and was a team co-captain. The Bulldogs went to 2 NCAA Tournaments and won 2 conference titles in his time there. He was named the Conference Tournament MVP in 2000.
Jeremy and his wife Holly reside in Indianapolis with their 3 chlidren, Griffin, Eli, and Grace. They attend St. Pius Parish. He has worked in the healthcare field and currently works for Counsyl, a genetics company based on the west coast.
Will Hunker
A 2012 graduate of Cathedral High School, Will was a dual sport athlete playing baseball and football. As a member of the baseball team, the Irish made two State Finals appearances. During Will’s senior year he was named to the All-City team and later went on to play at Heidelberg University in Tiffin, OH. In 2014, he transferred to Marian University to major in marketing and continue his baseball career as a utility infielder/outfielder. Will plans to graduate in December of 2016 and pursue a career in business. He is the son of legendary Cathedral trainer Mike and Patti Hunker, and brother of Clay (’16).
Keith Yost
Coach Keith Yost is the Head Freshman Baseball Coach at Cathedral High School. Keith graduated from Lawrence Central High School in 2005. Keith lettered 3 years in baseball playing short stop and second base. He was a member of the 2004 ISHAA 4A State Championship team. He went on to play baseball at the University of Indianapolis. Keith graduated from IUPUI with a degree in Physical Education and Health and received his Master’s in Educational Leadership from Marian University. He is currently the Assistant Principal at St. Pius X Catholic School in Indianapolis. Coach Yost and his wife, Kelsey, reside in Indianapolis with their three children Keigan, Madelyn, and Connor.
Austin Green
Austin grew up in Florida and moved out to Arizona before his high school career began. After the move, he played baseball at Phoenix Christian High School. While at Phoenix Christian, they were fortunate to make playoffs all four years. During his junior and senior seasons they made it to state.
Austin went on and furthered his educational and baseball career by attending and playing as a P/1B at Grace College in northern Indiana. On top of coaching with the Irish, Austin also coaches a 15u sharks team under Coach Jason Taulman. Austin assists Coach Taulman with many different camps, including ones working alongside Bobby Bell, the Marlins ex hitting Coach. On top of camps, Austin conducts lessons out of Coach Taulman’s facility. Austin is very happy to be apart of the Cathedral Baseball Program!
