Cole Hocker '19 was named the 2019 City Athlete of the Year. Congratulations Cole!
From the IndyStar:
Hocker is a four-year letterwinner in cross country and track and made his mark in both sports. In cross country, Hocker was a three-time city champion, a sectional and regional champion twice and was the state runner-up as a junior. As a senior, he won the individual state title by 16 seconds. Hocker also led his team to three city championships, two sectional and regional titles, one semistate and a team runner-up finish as a senior. He went on to win the Footlocker national championship and was runner-up in the Nike national championship. In track, Hocker also rewrote the record books. He set City meet records in the 800-meter and 3,200-meter events and won the 1,600-meter at the sectional four times. He placed fourth in the 1,600 at the state meet as a sophomore, second as a junior and is leading the state performance list in both the 800 and 1,600 going into the state meet. Hocker is believed to be the only high school male competitor to be on the all-time top-10 performance lists in the 800, 1,600 and 3,200. He is planning to attend the University of Oregon.
