This was a time of real achievement and real improvement.
As Mark Noe saw it, that made the 2022-2023 season a successful and significant one for both the Cathedral High School girls bowling team and the boys team.
“We had a good season,” Noe, the Irish girls and boys bowling coach, said.
The Irish boys, who have improved steadily in recent seasons, had another strong season in 2022-2023. They ranked among the top three teams in their sectional throughout the regular season before finishing fourth in the postseason sectional.
There was big success and big progress.
When the two were combined, that was the story for Cathedral High School bowling in 2021-2022 – a season in which the girls and boys programs both achieved preseason aspirations.
That was particularly true of the boys team.
Irish boys bowling in 2021-2022 not only improved throughout the season, the program reached a level of success in the regular season and postseason it never previously achieved.
And it nearly reached an even higher level.
“We’re real proud of the boys,” Ir...

Progress was made, and fun was had.
That’s a good combination, and that was an overriding theme for Cathedral High School bowling in 2019-2020.
“We had a very good season,” Irish bowling coach Mark Noe said.
Irish bowling, as has been the case in recent seasons, had stronger numbers in the boys program than the girls program in 2019-20 – but Noe said both teams improved through a season that featured a fifth-place finish in the sectional tournament for a boys program that was strong through much of the season.
All in all, Josh Payne liked the results.
"Overall, it was a pretty good season,” Payne said.
Payne, the head coach of the Cathedral High School bowling team, said there were multiple reasons that was true for the program in 2018-2019.
Irish boys bowling fielded a young team in ’18-’19, and the number of bowlers in the program boded well for the future. There were individual standout performances, and solid team efforts. Payne also said while the Irish didn’t field a girls team for the first time in recent memory, th...
