This is a year of change and transition.
For the Cathedral High School boys lacrosse team, a perennial state and Midwest power, that doesn’t lower the expectations. But Head Coach Andy Gruber said it may mean some learning in the early part of the 2023 season. And Gruber said the team’s outlook is a good one.

This year had a normal feel for Cathedral High School boys lacrosse.
For the Irish, that was a good thing. Long one of the top high school lacrosse programs in the Midwest and in the state of Indiana, the Irish boys firmly reestablished that status in 2022 with strong performances in and out of state.
They entered the postseason among the favorites in Indiana.

The Cathedral boys lacrosse team defeated HSE 13-6 to win the 2019 state championship and the programs 4th overall. The Irish got out to a quick start leading 4-1 after the first quarter. After a 5-3 halftime score, the defense shutout HSE in the 3rd quarter to take a 9-3 lead heading into the final quarter.
